Pledgerunner FAQ

How can I help you?
My passion for Pledgerunner is just as great as my passion to help you.
- John Eric Arterberry - Founder & Developer

What Is This For?

The purpose of Pledgerunner is to let people do more with with their fitness applications and wearable devices. By doing more, it made sense to create a way for people to raise funds for charitable needs. That is the inspiration for Pledgerunner.

For everything Pledgerunner, use the Starting Line to select key areas of our platform. The three main areas are Events, Sync Activity and Review (Dashboard). You can also access this Help area.

Here is where you can access all of our current charity events on Pledgerunner.

Navigate here to sync your activity from your wearable device or fitness app.

You can review your history, review your latest pledge and access previously completed pledges.

Side Menu

You can also access each of the described areas from the side menu.

Head Menu

The head menu allows you to access your account settings, access fundraising tools and logout of Pledgerunner.

Side Notes

Pledgerunner is fully responsive, so feel free to use it from your tablet or smart phone.

When you are inactive on Pledgerunner for an hour or more, you are automatically logged out of Pledgerunner. You will need to login again to access the site.

Charity Events

Select a charity event from this page to support a fundraiser. Events are presented in two sections: Activity and Challenge events.

What are the different types of Events?

Activity events are fundraisers, presented at the very start of the Charity Events page. Consider an Activity event as a virtual marathon fundraiser, which you would pledge to run, walk, bike or swim to complete.

Challenge events are fundraisers that are designed to support activities that require a friendly challenge, which compliment the use of your favorite fitness app or wearable device. You can compete through a weight loss challenge, or challenge other fundraisers.

Selecting An Event

When you select an event, you are navigated to the fundraisers campaign page. On the fundraisers campaign page it is divided into two key sections. Those sections are Goals To Complete and Pledge Your Support

Goals To Complete provides the distance you must finish to complete the pledge. You are provided the number of kilometers and the equivalent of those kilometers in miles and estimated steps. You are also provided a reference of how many calories you may burn. Lastly, you can review the estimated time of completion, which is based on how long it will take to complete the distance if done casually.

Pledge Your Support includes more detail regarding the fundraiser campaign. You are provided a video (if added by the fundraiser). You are also given details regarding their mission statement or story behind the fundraiser. The fundraiser goal for each month is also presented. The fundraiser goal will either display a financial or activity goal - and is set per need by the fundraiser coordinator, each month. The Leaderboard is also provided, which displays leaders who are contributing the most funds or activities.

How To Make A Pledge?

You can make a pledge for a fundraiser by selecting any of the green "+" buttons located on the fundraiser page.

The pledge button is located at the top and bottom
of each fundraiser campaign page.

How do you use the pledge page?

On the pledge page, you simply fill all of the required fields, as presented. The required fields for Activity events are straightforward, and simply ask for your reason to help. The same required fields are provided on Challenge events as well. For example, a Weight Loss Challenge event will require your starting weight, etc.

Why do I need to share my pledge?

Next, you are asked to share your pledge on your social network. Spread the word, to encourage friends and family to join in and sponsor your efforts. They may even join you to support the cause. When you share your pledge, you are helping the fundraiser campaign spread the news of their cause.

Where is my pledge?

When you save your pledge, it is located on your dashboard. Also, your pledge will be shared directly from your dashboard.

Side Notes

You can only pledge support for one fundraiser at a time. You must complete your pledge before you can start another.

As Pledgerunner grows, we will actively seek business sponsors to help support active pledges and specific charity fundraising events.

Weight Loss Challenges (and other Challenge Activities) provide a similar set of Goals To Complete, with a slight variation. For example, a Weight Loss Challenge will include information regarding a Start and End Weight requirement, in addition to the required distance.

Since Pledgerunner has a variety of Charity Events, which have different distances (or activities) to complete, you can sync your activity periodically to honor your pledge.Pledgerunner allows you to sync data from your fitness application or wearable device

What can I sync with Pledgerunner?

Pledgerunner currenty supports the following fitness applications (from left to right) which are available for both your iPhone or Android:
Moves™ | Runkeeper™

Pledgerunner currently supports the following wearable devices (activity trackers):

Fitbit® | Jawbone UP® | Misfit™

Jawbone UP
Jawbone UP

Sync and review

Select the device or application you actively use. You will be prompted to sign in to their platform in order to share your data with Pledgerunner.

After you confirm your credentials, you will return to Pledgerunner and your latest and greatest activity will be displayed graphically.

You can proceed to complete your pledge with the data you have synced. If you don’t have enough miles or steps to complete the pledge, no worries - you will be allowed to save the data to use later to honor your pledge.

Next steps

If you do not complete your pledge, you can review your efforts so far from your dashboard or share your pledge with a friend - to perhaps make your pledge a team effort.

Side Notes

You can sync your data as you generate it. The goal is to complete your pledge within the expected time range, which is within reason.

What is on my dashboard?

Your dashboard is divided into three sections, which are My History, Current Pledge, and My Daily Archive.

My History displays a summary of your distance donated, in kilometers, miles and steps. It also provides a summary of the calories burned, and a total number of pledges completed, with a link to access and view those pledges.

Current Pledge provides your current pledge to complete.

My Daily Archive form is located at the bottom, and provides access to your activities in detail.

What is My Daily Archive?

A private section of your dashboard is called My Daily Archive, which requires a password to access. You can create that password from your Account settings.

My Daily Archive provides a daily review of your fitness activities, like a fitness data bank - which you can share with your personal fitness trainer, healthcare provider or insurance and wellness program representatives. The data is presented from a calendar, which you can navigate and select completed activities. The details of those activities (calories, distance, duration, etc.) are displayed in a simple graph. You can also download a comma separated file to import your fitness data into spreadsheets, or third party graphing tools.

How do I complete a pledge?

To complete a pledge, select the green “checkmark” buttons located at the top and bottom of your dashboard.

The complete pledge button is located at the top and bottom
of your dashboard page.

You can only complete a pledge if you have synced the required distance for the fundraiser event. This pledge completion requirement is applied to both Activity and Challenge events.

The pledge completion page also invites you to share your pledge on your social network, to share your accomplishment and again reach out to potential sponsors.

A review of your completion is presented in percentages. If you have completed your pledge, it will display 100% on your pledge completion page.

How do I remove a pledge?

You can remove a pledge by selecting the red “X” buttons located on the top and bottom of your dashboard.

The remove pledge button is located at the top and bottom
of your dashboard page.

Side Notes

Your dashboard is accessible from your own custom URL. You can create your URL from your Account settings.

My Daily Archive is useful for those who may have multiple fitness apps or wearables, that are supported on Pledgerunner. You can archive data from all of them and retain the fitness data for your historical reference.

Creating a fundraiser is simple and easy. As a coordinator, you can create an activity based fundraiser in a matter of minutes.

How do I access building a fundraiser?

You can access the Pledgerunner Fundraiser tools directly from the top menu.

How do I get paid?

Each month, funds are collected for distribution. You can receive your funds via PayPal or through check distribution.

By PayPal

If you select this method, your raised funds will be transferred to you immediately. The primary contact for the charity fundraiser must have a PayPal account and there are additional fees associated with this process. A $25 charge along with an associated fee per PayPal is determined at the time of the transaction.

By Check

Each month, a check is distributed to the primary contact of the fundraiser. Although a slower process, this effort is just as effective and does not incur any additional fees. Allow for 1 to 2 weeks for the delivery of the check.

All distributions are provided at the end of every month, during the life of the fundraiser.

What can I use to build a fundraiser?

There are four tools provided on the Fundraiser page, and they are Build, Goals, Review, and Settings.

Define and build your fundraiser campaign from this editor, which allows you to update and save your campaign anytime.

Fundraiser goals can be financial or activity driven, and can be modified each month, or anytime, from this editor.

A dashboard for your fundraiser is provided, to review activity and overall fundraising results for your campaign.

Modify and customize the settings for your fundraiser, such as your fundraiser URL, fundraiser page background, your icon image, video and more.

How do I build a campaign?

Using the Build tool, you can access the editor to customize your fundraiser campaign. The editor is divided into three main parts that you can navigate through. They are Campaign Type, Campaign Editor, and Campaign Review

Campaign Type

To start your fundraiser campaign, you will need to define what type of fundraiser you want to use. Currently, there are two types of fundraisers you can start with, and they are Activity and Weight Loss Challenge.
The definition of these fundraiser types are included in the fundraiser editor, providing details of how to best use these campaigns effectively.

Campaign Editor

The editor provides a form for campaign coordinators to define the essential details of your fundraiser, which include the name of your fundraiser, the financial goal, a mission statement, and your primary contact information.

Campaign Review

The final stage of your fundraiser campaign is to review the information you provided. The campaign process will not proceeed until all areas presented in the review are completed. Once requirements are met, you can save your information and return to this editor to update.

Side Notes

In order to build a fundraiser campaign, you must agree to the terms and conditions which will enable your Pledgerunner account to create and manage a fundraiser.
